My Exciting and Eventful Vacation to Chicago

Uncategorized Add comments

Like many other families that haven’t taken a holiday for a couple years, watching our cash because of the economy. My only nephew asked his girlfriend to wed him and that is’s all it took! Found out the day the wedding was going to be held, my husband and I both had paid vacation time coming from work so we decided to make the trip and make it a vacation as well. So when it came time we packed out bags, loaded everything up and got moving.

This was no little road trip. It is almost 1200 miles back to my home city in Illinois so there would be a lot of time spent on the road. Sadly not all of our issues were left back at home. After a couple of hours of sitting the first day I had started feeling some lower abdominal pain. Being completely honest I just thought it was a mix of nerves, excitement and just sitting for too long. However by the end of our first day my pain had become more intense. We finally stopped for the night I attempted to relax and stretch out some, wishing that it would improve, but there was no change. It became so bad I though we would have to go to a nearest ER. I decided to try and get a good nights sleep and make the choice in the morning. Before I went to bed I called my mom to inform her where we were and what was happening with me. After describing the symptoms I was having and she told me she had the similar symptoms the time she was having problems with ovarian cysts. She additionally told me about some of the different treatment of ovarian cysts and how this one natural treatment worked best for her. So I made the choice to go to the emergency room that night, just to ensure what was taking place.

I am certain each and every one of you have experienced going to the emergency room at one time during your life or another. Well, the one we visited was phenomenally full. Let me say this, agony or no pain, waiting in a room full of ill and injured people wasn’t a very good atmosphere. The mix of all these factors really irritated my anxiety. As time went by with people coming out and in consistently, waiting to be called while experiencing a great amount of pain it was finally enough and I started having a panic attack. All I wanted to do was leave there, discomfort or no discomfort. I must confess, if it was not for the support my hubby had given me, in addition to the skills I learned about overcoming panic attacks I honestly believe I would have walked out. Eight hours later I walked out feeling slightly better as far as the pain. The anxiety and panic had subsided and the ultrasound established I had a single ovarian cyst. There wasn’t any cause for alarm though I was given a prescription for pain if required, some guidelines on stuff to keep clear of and told to check in with my GP when we got back home.

We made it up to Chicago and during the following couple of days the discomfort subsided. I continued experiencing a small amount of anxiety, but it was more likely excitement about what precisely was happening. Actually one evening we all gathered together and went out to eat at one of our favourite restaurants. This is the type of food you just cannot find down south where we live, so we all did quite a bit over eating during that evening. My husband went slightly more overboard then he should have. I could tell as he mentioned that he needed one of his remedies for heartburn before we even even made it back to our room. We laughed about it, but the remainder of the evening he was in some pain because of his heartburn and acid reflux.

All in all it was a excellent time. The Wedding was perfect and went smoothly without any problems. It had been a evening to recollect. Actually the whole visit was something to remember. Eventhough it started a little rocky but the time was well spent surrounded by family and buddies that we hadn’t seen in years. That most likely was one of the most enjoyable vacations the my family and I took in ages.
