Taking a Railroad Train Excursion across America

Taking a Steam Train Trip through the U.S.

There are many ways for you to enjoy the continental United States, and one way for you to do so is to take a steam train trip. There are still a good number of steam trains in the country, and a good number of tours that can allow you to enjoy the scenery, sit back, relax, and have a bit of fun. Some steam train trips can take a few days to complete, while others take weeks to finish; the enjoyment, however, is entirely in your journey, not in the destination. So have a bit of fun and take a ride on the relaxed side. You may start off on a trip that you’ll never forget.

What are the different steam train routes through the U.S.? You can try out the Alaska White Pass and Yukon Route Railway, which starts off about fifty miles north out of Anchorage. You can go through different parts of Alaska, see the state’s varied landscapes, and meet up with the different forms of wildlife. If the cold weather isn’t your thing, you can go warm and make your way through the Grand Canyon via the Grand Canyon Railway. Touted as one of the best ways to go through the U.S. by train, you can enjoy the Grand Canyon through this Arizona-based company and get a lot of the sights in as you relax on your journey.

If you’re hoping to have some meals with your ride and still enjoy looking at the country, why not try Arkansas? Eureka Springs allows for steam train excursions with dinner trains. Travel toArkansas if you want to see the sights at your local national park, then you can also try the Yosemite Railroad. And if you want to see the railroad industry as it developed, then you can have both steam train excursions and museum tours in Old Sacramento, California, thanks to the California State Railroad Museum, which ties in with the Sacramento Southern Railroad.

Still up for a good bit of history? Then ride the Austin Steam Train, which starts of at Austin Texas. Through this steam excursion, you can take a ride through the older part of America and look at it through the eyes of someone who relies entirely on the railroad for transportation. This tour will take you through ranches and rivers located in the Texas Hill Country, and along the historical neighborhoods in Austin. There are different day excursions, each with their own special themes that will allow you to take a look at America as it once stood.

These are only a few options that you might want to consider as you look at how you can take a steam train trip through the U.S. Remember that such train trips, because they take a while to finish and may involve stays at luxury resorts and hotels, can be expensive. They will also require you to take off a lot of time for your vacation, since a train trip isn’t exactly a speeding bullet across the country. Think of a steam train trip as a time investment and an opportunity to recharge.

Interested in steam train trips? Go directly to the steam train bookings websites, which you can search through your favorite search engine; or talk to your travel agent or tour group operator, who can provide you with quotes and details.

New England Coast Destination: Tips on Where to Go and What to Do

Don’t think of New England only in August.  There’s plenty to see and do in spring and fall and, if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, maybe even in early winter.  If any of the local areas in the New England coast is part of your vacation destination, here are a few tips on Connecticut vacations and where you should go and what you should do:

Maine

Maine in the northern part of New England is famous for its rugged yet beautiful Maine coastal vacations and its natural harbors.  Small wonder it has become a favorite among artists who have captured its beauty in novels, stories and paintings.  The Pine Tree State is indeed blessed, not just by a coastline that extends for 228 miles but also by its scenic mountains, rivers and lakes.  It is still a favorite tourist destination, not just for its famous lobsters but also because of its numerous museums and national parks.

Maine also plays host to many sports competitions each year.  You could come in summer, to watch horse races, regattas and golf tournaments, or in winter for the ski races.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire vacations are arguably the best New England coast destination to go to during the fall, when the leaves go out in an explosion of colors.  One of the 13 original U.S. colonies, New Hampshire has retained its own unique charm, thanks to its many spectacular lakes, brooks and streams and its largely unspoiled forests.  These, along with its beautiful resort areas, make New Hampshire a favorite among tourists since the 1800s.  Camping, hiking, sightseeing and other recreational activities are being offered by the locals here.

If you want to get away in winter in a New England coast destination, then New Hampshire should be your choice.  Check out their winter carnivals which start in January.  Dartmouth College’s carnivals are quite famous for their ice sculptures.  But don’t stay away in spring and summer – New Hampshire is home to a good number of festivals, including the Stark Fiddlers’ Contest, the Bluegrass festival in Pemi Valley and the All-State Music Festival.

Massachusetts North Shore

The Massachusetts North Shore is just 60 minutes’ drive from Boston.  If you’re ever in the area, consider dropping by in this coastal town.  This place has so much to offer, provided you’re willing to get adventurous.  For better deals on accommodations, try renting a beach house with several friends.

Although there are plenty of places you can try, you might want to consider Plum Island.  From there, you can explore areas such as Gloucester, Essex, Rockport, Salisbury, Ipswich, Salem and Marblehead.  Don’t forget to try their watermelon beer and, believe it or not, the best popcorn you’ll ever pop.

Rhode Island

Not everything small can be overlooked and Rhode Island is testament to that.  Little Rhody, the Ocean state, boasts of over 20 state parks and beaches.  Which one to go to?  Check out Beach Pond State Park in the western area.  It offers opportunities for camping, boating and swimming.  Dawley and Diamond Hill State Parks are excellent choices for outdoors activities such as hiking, riding and picnics.

If you want a taste of American history, try the numerous landmarks and buildings such as the white marble State House and the oldest Baptist church in the U.S., both of which are found in Providence.  If you like gardens, go and visit the topiary gardens of Thomas Brayton.  If you prefer the sea, check out the lighthouse at Block Island, still the brightest and farthest-reaching beacon on the East Coast.

Alex Jeffreys Coaching Session Module 4 – Take Aways

Uncategorized No Comments »

Hi Friends!

Another Alex Jeffreys Coaching Session ticked off the list!

I’m at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf while I’m writing this. It’s a Saturday for me. I was working two jobs the whole month: my day job and my alter ego as a web marketer. After yesterday’s 6-hour coaching session, and working like a beheaded chicken at work,

I crashed and slept like a log for more than 12 hours straight.
Now, the afternoon sun is bright and sunny, and there’s a noisy crowd in the shop at Island Plaza.  Most of them look like Fitness First people and they are talking up a storm.

I just walked in with camo shorts, a Bruce Lee (hoo-watta!! weave in weave out, hoo…) t-shirt and a Lenovo netbook in tow. I was dead set in making a blog or two by today! So here we go…

My Take-Aways

I want to start with the take-aways because this feels like a longish blog for me. So to give my readers instant gratification, I’ll put the take-aways ahead of the rest. :D

1.    I’m going to win the contest, Alex! Alex Jeffreys is a smart coach, in his efforts to keep us on our toes and make us take action, he’s given us something big to shoot for. In a nutshell, the most eyeballs who look at our blogs will get a nice prize.

2.    And I’m going to help people AND Win! Yes, readers, you heard it right. I’m going to help others and still win. I believe that the way the universe works, you help people with a full heart, you’ll get a lot of love in return, including getting what you want.

3.    I’m going to step out of my comfort zone and do some videos and slides. Writing’s no problem to me, but videos and youtube stuff is a whole different territory for me. Nevertheless, I’m going to to do it!

4.    I’m going to follow my plan. Yes, like most humans, sometimes I still slack off. But for me to win the contest, I’ll follow my quantified daily and weekly plans to the letter.
It sound sooo simple, but believe me, its going to be a fun ride. :D

The Coaching

The last Alex Jeffreys Coaching Session was held at about the same time as the last one. 7am Malaysia, 11pm UK, 6pm Eastern Standard, 10am Australia.
As such, I wish I can see how many people are in the class and if I could get my hands on a list of my classmates. I really want to get together and have a great time with these 500-odd people.

The Fortunate 500. Sounds like King Leonidas’ 300 at Thermopylae. :D   Unlike them, we’ll survive. And like them we’ll turn into Legends.

The 4th Alex Jeffreys Coaching Session Module was about Social Media Money. And the name is quite appropriate.

Alex has an interesting theory about blogs. And he relates this to ocean fishing.
I ask you, where the best place to catch a large school of fish? Where when there’s a vast ocean, can you 100% of the time find enough fish to fill your nets? The answer may surprise you: near or under oil rigs.

The Oil Rig Scenario

When an oil rig is set up, its pylons become occupied by the denizens of the seas. Algae starts growing on the pylons, attracting mollusks to grow on the pylons as well, attracting fish, which attracts even more fish to the oil rig.
Soon enough you got yourself a full-fledged ecosystem running under your oil rig. Left alone for years, it become a long-term fixture in the open seas.

Relate this to blogging. Your blog is the oil rig.
When you create blog articles (algae), you create food for the people make comments on (clams), which attracts web surfers looking for information(fish), to write more comments on your articles (clams) if it is really really good, attracting even more fish (web surfers) to the site….

To find out more about Oil Rig Hopping and the Oil Rig Rules, click here.

Soon enough you get referred, tagged, bookmarked and copied, and you’re famous. You’ll be viewed as an expert anda really cool dude to hang around with. A simple strategy which requires patience, honesty, cooperation, and a little bit of hard work on the outset.

The lecture took 2 hours and the rest was the time Alex fielded questions from EVERYBODY who had a question in the call. He absolutely (again) didn’t stop until we had no more questions to ask (and we did ask a ton of questions).

By the time it was over, it was 1pm Malaysia, 5am UK, 12mn Eastern Standard, 4pm Australia.

It was long, and I lost sleep over it, but well worth the time and effort we put in. My classmates are absolutely worth helping out! You can never find another nice bunch of people. :)

If you are interested in having a mentorship with Alex Jeffreys, his Coaching Sessions are full and closed for the moment. His next classes will be announced so please regularly check here.

So Why Alex Jeffreys?

Funny to put him last on the blog, but Alex will understand. He would say the message is more important.

Here’s what I like about Alex Jeffreys.

For some reason, Alex Jeffreys does not claim to be a guru. Actually he prefers to say that he’s only a little bit ahead of us. He’s not shy to say that he’s still on a steep learning curve to the top.

So why did we plunk some hard-earned cash to get what he knows? Well, he’s made six-figure incomes, and was mentored by the likes of Mike Filsaime, Michael Cheney, Tim Knox, and Rich Schefren so you can see why he’s such a phenomenon in internet marketing.

But it’s not just that. Alex Jeffreys has some heart. He was generous with his information (FREE), the information made sense (VALUE) and he had a good message (OFFER) in his video presentation.

His offer to help didn’t sound bogus and he takes the time to interact with us. Not to mention him sustaining 6+ hours of  support calls past 11pm in the UK, that’s unheard of.

You can get his latest report about List Building here.

So I would say, after experiencing some gurus myself, that you wouldn’t go wrong being mentored by Mr. Alex Jeffreys.

Stay tuned! More blogs to come! :)

Caterham Cars produces super-hot sports car for 50 years in sports car manufacture

Uncategorized No Comments »

What fun to celebrate 50 years of making fast cars than to build a road rocket? That is what Caterham has done, after building the Caterham Sevens, based on the Lotus Seven for 50 years.

The Caterham X330 is based on the Caterham CSR sports car, but is powered by a supercharged Ford 2.3 liter engine developing 330 bhp. Since the car weighs only 1,210 lb – this is the target weight for the Caparo 3.5 liter trackday supercar, by the way – the power-to-weight ratio is right up there among the exotic cars at 610 bhp per tonne. Well, 540 bhp per tonne if you include the driver, which is a good idea.

As quick as a Pagani to 60 mph

You need something like a Pagani, or Koenigsegg exotic car to do better than that. A high power-to-weight ratio make the car accelerate incredibly quickly, which is why your ordinary tin boxes are so slow – they are too heavy.

Caterhams have always been very light because they follow the concepts of Colin Chapman back in the 1950s. The current range are much different from the originals, although the base models retain the original Lotus front suspension with a anti-roll bar acting as a suspension link.

The X330 is a lightweight version of the Caterham CSR, which are built without frills, have good supension and steering and are street legal. With that massive power-to-weight ratio, the X330 should be good for a 0-60 mph time of under 3.5 seconds, so long as the driver can get the power on the road smoothly to start off. Times from 40-70 mph should be staggering.

Recently, several new companies have decided that open-wheeled sports cars have a big future including KTM in Austria. Clearly, the trend is not so much to comfortable sports cars like the Audi TT and Nissan Z370, but to a wide diversity of sports cars.
